ANNOUNCING CTFA’s 2024 Orlin Corey Medallion Awards - Idris Goodwin and Kathy D. Harrison

Idris Goodwin, Seattle, WA

Idris Goodwin is an award-winning playwright, the Artistic Director for Seattle Children's Theatre, and the Board President of Theater For Young Audiences/USA. He is the author of over 60 original plays for multi-generational audiences that are widely produced nationwide by a diverse mix of professional and academic venues. Idris has created original content for and/or appeared on Nickelodeon, HBO Def Poetry, Sesame Street, NPR, BBC Radio, and the Discovery Channel. Your House Is Not Just A House, his first picture book, will be published by Harper Collins/Clarion in May 2024.

Kathy D. Harrison - New York & New Jersey

Kathy D. Harrison is a seasoned theater professional with a notable career as a musical theater playwright, Artistic Director, arts educator, arts administrator within a youth development organization, and advocate for utilizing theater to center and amplify lesser-known historical stories as experienced by Black and marginalized people. She brings a unique creativity and approach to storytelling that really serves as a magnet for youth audiences and young performers. As a musical theater playwright, she is able to unearth stories that have gone unnoticed and bring them to today's world in a fresh way. Ms. Harrison is presently the Director of the Signature Programs Department of LEAP, a non-profit arts organization in the NY/NJ area. She is the proud mother of Nigel E. Williams.
